Want to improve your health and well-being but not too keen on running machines or lycra? Then why not take a look at our award-winning alternative... ...you could be helping the environment as well as yourself!
The Conservation Volunteers Green GymŽ is a scheme which inspires you to improve both your health and the environment at the same time.
Our task for this Friday will be to train and prune the willow tunnels and sculptures to maintain their shape. The willow tunnels are a fun natural feature to the park for people to enjoy and still provide a habitat for wildlife.
Experienced leaders guide you through a range of practical projects, giving you the opportunity to tackle physical jobs in the outdoors - improving your strength and stamina, boosting your practical skills and confidence and benefitting your local green spaces.
There will be different jobs and tools to try out. Everyone works at their own pace and is free to stop and start whenever they want. All groups have a relaxed atmosphere and there's plenty of time for chatting!
The great thing about Green Gym is instead of staring at four walls in a gym you get out in the open air. You will learn about environmental conservation and ways to improve your local surroundings.
Tea break is very important! Refreshments are provided and this also provides a further chance to socialise.
Every Friday 10:45am - 2pm. Meet at the Stables next to the Tennis Courts in the park.
