From 12:00pm to 20:00pm
Come down to Walthamstow this August to enjoy a cultural celebration of the little island paradise, Mauritius. It’s the biggest Mauritian line-up ever seen in the UK. And this year’s Mauritian UK Open Air Festival promises to be its best yet as it returns in East London this year for the August Bank Holiday, Sunday 25th August.
The crowds are in for a real treat this year, with several of Mauritius’ best loved singers cramming onto the stage for a day of fantastic Mauritian music. From the ever popular Alain Ramanisum and Laura Beg and the Sega sounds of Marie Josee Clency, to the nostalgia of Nitish Joganah and new kids on the block Nuvel Zeneration, there are simply far too many artists to name. There really is something for everyone! With several DJs lined up to keep the party going from early ‘til late, the Mauritian UK Open Air Festival will be a great family day out for all to enjoy.
Mauritius on Show
The Mauritian UK Open Air Festival is not just about the music, but about the rich Mauritian culture. The festival will showcase the famous Mauritian cuisine, a fusion of European and Asian fare, at its best. Classic dishes such dhal puri, gateaux piment, fried noodles and flavoursome curries will all be available on the day. And it would not be a Mauritian festival without any Mauritian rum and beer on tap. This year’s Mauritian UK Open Air Festival will be powered by Port Louis Bar, who will be on standby with Phoenix Beer and Green Island Rum-ever important in this hot weather!
Bank Holiday Weekend
Thousands are expected to turn out on the day and with no work the next day, the party will last well into the night. This year, the festival takes place in Chestnut Ground, just behind Walthamstow Town Hall. With tickets priced at just £6 for adults and free for kids under 12, event is one for the family.
